The Expert Guide to Job Interviews!

Nail job interviews with confidence and greatly increase your chances of landing your dream job

Learn EXACTLY what to do to show up confidently in interviews (no matter what the format!) — so you can sell yourself and your skills, get hired, and take your career to the next level.

Brought to you by Paul Freiberger, a nationally known career coach, professional resume and LinkedIn profile writer as well as job interviewing expert. A former communications director for McKinsey & Company and board member of the National Resume Writers Association, Paul has written extensively on successful job interviewing and career enhancement strategies during the 15+ years he's supported job seekers in finding their dream jobs.

You’re a talented professional and have made progress in your career…

...developing a wide range of skills and talents along the way.

You’re ready to tap the full value of these assets — and take your work, your salary, and your impact to the next level.

Yet while your next-level job search has started, it hasn’t been easy, and the main culprit has been the interviews.

Ugh, the interviews!

Why do they have to be so unnerving?!

You have so much value to add to nearly any job, but that knowledge seems to desert you the second you start talking about yourself.
You feel self-conscious and anxious, ...and sometimes you doubt your abilities altogether.

You become a different person the minute the interview starts. Your confidence is replaced with uncertainty.

If they could just watch you do the job you’d be fine, but instead, you have to sell yourself through words — and those words just don’t come easy.

It makes each interview feel like a gigantic wall that’s not only standing between you and a new job, but a higher salary, more options, and career advancement, too.

Yet without a clear fix, you just keep plugging along, worried that you may be squandering great opportunities and wondering if you should just stay put in the job you have.

The entire experience is frustrating and defeating, leaving you feeling isolated, stressed, unfulfilled, and alone.

Hear this, job seeker:

YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

Talking about yourself — and specifically selling yourself — can be an extremely difficult thing to do, especially in pressure situations like job interviews.

There are so many people who, in normal conversation, have no problem talking about themselves or their skills, but in a job interview they completely clam up.

The primary reason for this, of course, is that they’re attached to the outcome — they really WANT or NEED the job!

But there’s ANOTHER reason they struggle, too, and that’s because they’ve never been taught how to interview in the RIGHT way!

You see, hiring is a game, and the interview is a strategic play.

When you understand how the hiring game works, what the rules are, and how the interview fits in, you’ll learn exactly what you need to do (and say!) to give a great interview, showcase your skills, highlight your true value, and get hired.

So, instead of heading into each interview feeling like you’re at the mercy of the interviewer and their questions…

...you can learn how to prepare yourself strategically so you feel confident and in control.
Instead of feeling like there’s pressure to drive the conversation or participate in a certain way...

...you can learn how interviews are DIFFERENT from other conversations and make it work for you.
Instead of worrying about how to talk about gaps, changes, or tricky situations in your work history…

...you can learn how to address them with confidence and go into your interview with a plan.
And instead of feeling clunky and self-conscious when you talk about yourself…

...you can learn how to incorporate storytelling to make it natural and engaging.

The good news is…

not only is it possible to learn how to interview strategically and successfully — but it’s also surprisingly simple!

With the right step-by-step process that will teach you how to interview like you’ve never been taught before, you’ll gain the clarity and the confidence you need to stop dreading interviews and start nailing them instead!

When you do, you’re giving yourself the best chance possible to get the job you want... and move your career, your salary, and your options for your family and your future to the next level.

I know this is true because I’ve done it myself — and I’ve shown countless other executives, project managers, and professionals of every kind how to do the same.

How Strong Interview Skills Successfully Shaped My Career —
and How it Can Shape Yours, Too!

Hi, I’m

Paul Freiberger

— career coaching expert, award-winning author, and former communications strategist at McKinsey & Company.

I was 16 years old when I had my first interview for a job at a fast-food restaurant. I wanted the job so badly, and as my dad drove me to the meeting, he coached me on potential interview questions and how to make a good impression. I used his advice and handled the questions well...and I still remember the moment when the manager said I was hired. I realized then the power of an interview and vowed to become an expert.

Ever since, I’ve used the “tool” of interviewing to secure jobs and change careers — not just once but twice. After 15 years as a journalist with media outlets like NPR, Asian Week, and InfoWorld, I wanted to transition to work as a project manager in a technology research lab. So, I used the interview to discuss skills that were uncommon in journalists but important for technologists — a strategy that got me the job.

Years later when the research lab closed down, I had the opportunity to interview for a position in communications at the prestigious management consulting firm, McKinsey & Company — again, another career change. I used the interview to position my skills so that the hiring execs could clearly see how I could successfully help their firm. This strategy worked as well, and again I got the job.

It was while at McKinsey that many of my colleagues and friends began seeking me out for career improvement expertise. McKinsey’s “up-or-out” policy meant lots of people were engaged in the job search process and needed help with resume writing and job interview prep.

I found that some of the most talented people were not getting job offers after their interviews, despite having a great resume. It reinforced my belief that strong interviewing skills are key to successfully getting hired. So, I put more attention there and worked extensively helping people prepare for and ace their interviews. I liked it so much — and the results were so great — that I eventually launched my own company called Shimmering Careers.

Since then, I’ve worked with countless clients to help them land, prepare for, and nail their interviews so that they greatly increase their odds of getting the job of their dreams.

Throughout it all I’ve learned this: developing job interview skills is more important than you think — and they’re skills that will last you a lifetime.

Not only are they critical in job searches or career changes, but they can make all the difference when you’re seeking a raise or vying for a promotion.

Yet probably the best thing about knowing how to interview well is the way it makes you feel. You’ll become more confident, have a more optimistic outlook, and be able to effectively communicate the value you provide to others.

My mission is to help you realize that you CAN get your dream job and build the career that you want when you know how to interview well. Not only will you grow a remarkable belief in yourself, but you’ll also have the confidence and the clarity to go after the job — and the life — of your dreams.

Program Breakdown

Here’s what you’ll learn and explore in each module of The Expert Guide to Job Interviews with Paul Freiberger:

Creating Your Great Career Vision

We’ll kick off the course by laying the foundation for interviewing success: organization and visualization. You’ll spend time dreaming about what you truly want the next step or phase in your career to be, and then explore the worries and fears that come up in the process. We’ll talk next about how to overcome those fears, as well as what strengths and passions you can really hang your hat on, and the needs and priorities that have to be considered.

In this module, we’ll use the following tools:

  • Envision the Next Step in Your Great Career Guide to help you describe in writing what your next job looks like
  • Worries, Fears, and Remedies List that outlines the common worries and fears that come up when envisioning your next step and how to overcome them
  • Skills You See and Skills You Don’t See Worksheet that guides you to list your biggest strengths as well as gather feedback from others on strengths you may not be aware of

Using Your Resume to Secure the Interview

In Module Two, we’ll discuss your resume, and its use as an interview tool. You’ll learn how your resume is really the supporting actor in your interview “performance” as well as how to evaluate your resume to make sure it’s in tip-top shape. Finally, we’ll explore the importance of the cover letter and how it, too, can help you secure interviews you really want.

In this module, we’ll use the following tools:

  • Resume Evaluation Tool to help you look at your resume from a hiring manager’s point of view so you can see what works and what needs changing
  • ATS Checklist Landing that interview means making it through the automated applicant tracking system. This handy tool will help you avoid common mistakes that block your entry into a new job
  • Creating A Cover Letter To Get Interviews to help you craft the best cover letter possible

How to Get More Interviews

Module Three explores the two major ways to land more job opportunities--networking and your digital presence (i.e. LinkedIn). We’ll discuss the importance of networking, who to network with, and how to use informational interviews to get advice, introductions, and new opportunities. A side bonus: Informational interviews give you practice for the real interview in a less-threatening environment. You’ll also learn my top LinkedIn recommendations to get noticed.

In this module, we’ll use the following tools:

  • Networking Resources to brainstorm who you want to network with, how to reach out to them, and how to identify your objective
  • Informational Interview Spreadsheet to track your contacts, meetings, and results
  • LinkedIn Makeover Tips to ensure your digital presence gets you noticed

Be More Prepared than Anyone Else

Module Four is all about the importance of preparation and research! We’ll discuss exactly what to research about the company you’re interviewing with, plus how to prepare yourself physically and mentally for the big day, including dealing with any nerves, fear, or anxiety. We’ll finish off this module by exploring what questions YOU should ask in the interview to show that you have done your research, know what you want, and can bring great value to the job.

In this module, we’ll use the following tools:

  • Pre-Interview Research Checklist that outlines the most important things that need to get done before your interview
  • Example Questions List for ideas of good questions to ask your prospective employer

How to Answer the
“Tell Me About Yourself” Question

In Module Five, we tackle the most important question of them all — the “Tell Me About Yourself” question. We’ll start by exploring the methodology you can use to answer the question, plus how to organize your answer so that you not only sell yourself through it, but you also can answer in a way that effectively uses your interview time. We’ll also discuss the 3-part structure you can use to answer the question that makes it clear you have the skills they’re looking for and how you’ve used those skills to make a difference in your prior work.

In this module, we’ll use the following tools:

  • A Guide to Answering the essential “Can You Tell Me About Yourself?” question to inspire and guide you as you work on your answer
  • How to prepare a Skills Evidence Worksheet to help you create brief answers that highlight how you’ve developed and used your most important skills

How to Answer Other Tough Questions

You’ll learn the best way to handle and answer the questions so your value shows through every time. We’ll also discuss questions that may be asked that you don’t have to answer, and how to handle them if they do come up.

 Testimonials

I’ve learned so much about job interviews from Paul and I’m definitely prepared each time I have an interview. Anyone getting ready for job interviews should take Paul’s course.

Rogel De Oliveira
Paul Freiberger provided coaching to me for interviewing on my last two positions. He helped me prepare for the interview questions, get my mindset aligned with my desired outcomes, and ultimately gave me great advice for salary negotiation. I was successful in both instances. I would highly recommend Paul’s job interview course.
Jean Ascoli
Paul is a great job interview prep and career coach. I graduated from my Master's in 2020 and was looking for a job during a pandemic. He was helpful and supportive and had great tips that helped me with every interview. I ended up getting my dream job! You should take his course.

Gabriella Sanderson
I have worked with Paul Freiberger for much of my career. Paul’s interview course is loaded with insights that helped me to properly prepare for different types of interviews and interview questions. Many of the interview scenarios discussed were similar to questions I later encountered in interviews. Ultimately, his coaching allowed me to have the confidence I needed to nail job interviews that involved career change and advancement. Paul’s interview coaching gets my highest recommendation.

The sooner you get the job you want...
the sooner you start making the money and the impact you want!

Why leave a better job, more money, and the next level of your career up to luck?

Why hold your breath and pray the interview goes well?

Why put your chances for a better job in the hands of your prospective employer…

...when there are very concrete things you can do to ENSURE your success?

Despite feeling like you’re “bad” at interviewing, you CAN get better.

Despite feeling like all the power lies with the hiring manager who’s interviewing you, there are specific and strategic things you can do to sell yourself and get the job.

And despite feeling like you’re one of many vying for the same position, there are plenty of ways to differentiate yourself and show an employer you’re the only right person for the job.

But you can’t DO those things unless you KNOW those things.
Your future self — the one who’s more fulfilled, better paid, and making more impact in a great new job — is waiting for you to learn how to successfully and strategically nail your job interviews.

Because you can’t get that new job until you do.

That same future self knows it’s worth the time, it’s worth the effort, and it’s definitely worth the investment.

The most important thing you can do right now to get from where you are to where you want to be is to exchange your fear and doubt for the confidence and clarity that comes from knowing how to interview well.

When you do, you’ll walk into any job interview for the rest of your life with confidence and ease…

...and greatly increase your chances of taking your job — and your life — to whatever level of success you dare to imagine.

The Expert Guide to Job Interviews with Paul Freiberger can show you how.
